House Roof and Arch for Balcony

The past week's other major happening has been getting all of the pine boards oiled and urethaned thanks to Karen's family: Mum-Barb, Sister-Jan and B'in-law-Russ for their help on the August long weekend.  With the pine all prepped, our building crew Daryl, Dean, Corey and Dave had all of the pine boards up on the roof with the peel & stick membrane on by last thing Thursday just in time for this weekend's rainfall.

The big push from our end is to complete the pieces necessary to build the curved arch roof over the master bedroom balcony including a few pieces of simple timber frame and 7 curved arch glue-lam beams which we have been madly completing in our shop at the rate of 8 laminations per day (16 required per beam).

This is all a bit tense as we have sold our Victoria house and the deal closes on August 25 so let's see: at the rate of 8 laminations per day and 16 required per beam and 7 beams needed.....

  1. It's looking fantastick guys! I really enjoy peeking in every few days to see the progress. This is better than watching "Norm and the Boys".
Even though I had a 5 year head start, I think I had better speed up so you don't pass me!!
